It is a popular tiger reserve in Central India. In year 1994, it was declared as the 22nd Tiger reserve of India and 5th in Madhya Pradesh. Panna tiger reserve is spread over Panna and Chhatarpur districts of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. It is globally known for its wild cats, including tigers, deer, Leopard, antelope, vultures, wolf, chinkara, cheetal and lots of more. Previously this region was seeking attention for its diamond mines. Being close to Khajuraho that is only 25 km away to the park, a UNESCO world heritage site which is one of the top most visiting places in India and famous for his temples & erotic sculptures. It spreads over in area of 542.67 km2 (209.53 sq mi) which is vast enough to provide better comfort for wild species. The connectivity of Panna Tiger Reserve with the other places and the condition of the roads are excellent, hence tourists from either abroad or the country feels this place a worth to visit. Sightseeing of Tigers are not very common in the Park, tourist needs to be patients, getting glimpse of this big wild cat. The vegetation of this region is mixed with uneven terrain with scrubby vegetation and grass, rocky landscape gathered along with hundreds verities of trees and shrubs. One can explore Indian species of crocodiles like mugger and long snout Ghariyal in the Ken River that flows from here toward the north harbors.

How to Reach Kanha National Park
- By Air: Khajuraho serves as the nearest domestic airport from Panna National Park. The distance between the park and the airport is just 94 km, i.e., it would be a 3-4 hour journey to reach Panna National Park from Khajuraho Airport. However, there is no direct flight to Khajuraho from the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata. Most of the flights connect Khajuraho through Varanasi.
The nearest international airport from Panna National Park is Raja Bhoj International Airport which is located in Bhopal. From the airport, one can hire a taxi to reach the park. Though a bit expensive, yet, the airway is the most convenient and time-saving mean to reach Panna National Park, especially for foreign visitors.
- By Train: Satna Junction serves as the nearest railway station to Khajuraho which is located at a distance of 121 km. The station is very well connected with all the country’s major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore. Because of the great and smooth transit connectivity, the railway is the best way to reach Panna National Park. There are options of taxi and bus from railways station to reach Panna National Park; you can choose either of them.
- By Road: The state of Madhya Pradesh boasts an impressive road connectivity with other cities and states. The well-paved roads and highways give an easy allowance to travellers to reach the destination, either by their own conveyance or by bus. The nearest bus stand from the Park is located in Panna which is very well linked with Khajuraho. A number of interstate bus services, both government and private, are also available from Agra, Delhi and Jhansi to Khajuraho. However, the buses from Gwalior, Bamitha, and Satna are also available that connect tourists with the Panna National Park.
