Overview
The Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is situated in the Umaria and Katni districts’ eastern Satpura hill range. According to mythology, the name “Bandhavgarh” is derived from the words “Bandhav” (which means brother) and “garh” (which means fort). This fort was created and entrusted to brother Lakshman by Lord Rama to keep an eye on Lanka.
Given the diversity of its flora and fauna, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is crucial. The healthy tiger population and variety of herbivores found in the Tiger Reserve are well-known. Due to its diversified ecosystem, which includes hills, valleys, rivers, marshes, and meadows, this area is exceptional in terms of biodiversity.

Species to see: Tiger, Leopard, Wild dog, Jungle cat, Hyena, Spotted deer, Sambar deer and Blue bull
Best Time to visit: Between October to June.

Things to do: Go for a birding tour or a jeep safari to catch a glimpse of the best wildlife. Also, do not miss out on seeing the Khajuraho temple. Also, the Bandhavgarh fort.
